Blind Pig Records has announced the signing of Andy T and Nick Nixon. Guitarist Andy T arrived in Nashville from Southern California several years ago and teamed up with local blues and R&B legend guitarist/vocalist Nick Nixon in 2011. As Blues Underground Network said, “Simply put, Andy T and James “Nick” Nixon have quickly risen to the top of many people's lists of Great Collaborations.”

As bandleaders of the Andy T-Nick Nixon Band, they have released two critically acclaimed albums, both of which were produced by Anson Funderburgh – 2013’s Drink Drank Drunk and this year’s Livin’ It Up. Elmore magazine said, “This band swings oh so soulfully! Traditional blues lovers listen up – your blues is here as fresh as ever.” Reviewing their second CD, Living Blues remarked, “It all adds up to a blues-rich yet stylistically diverse set, infused with joy and enriched by impeccable musicality—from beginning to end.”

Andy T’s jazz-tinged guitar style is influenced by T-Bone Walker, B.B. King, Magic Sam, and Albert Collins among others, yet it remains his own. Andy has toured internationally with blues greats Guitar Shorty and Smokey Wilson, and has performed with a long list of major blues artists around the country. The velvet-voiced Nixon, whose singing recalls Jimmy Witherspoon and Billy Eckstine, was part of Nashville’s thriving blues scene in the 60’s, was a longtime member of The New Imperials, recorded for Chess Records in the 70’s and has performed with many of the top blues and R&B artists in the world.

In a statement about the signing, the pair said, “We have enjoyed Blind Pig recordings since the label was established in the late 70's. We are absolutely ‘hog wild’ about being signed and are very proud to be part of the Blind Pig family. We look forward to working with them on the release of our new CD in 2015. We also look forward to working with our good friend and producer, Anson Funderburgh once again.”
